unexpected
I'm sure you won't believe me, but it's true: I went to Trader Joe's and was in and out in 15 minutes. I'm referring to the Trader Joe's on 14th street. The one that looked like a Soviet-era supermarket for weeks after it opened, because each day, people were buying up everything in stock.

Yes, I actually did buy food. No, I didn't have anyone queueing in line for me. Usually my Trader Joe's experience involves going into the store, my mind full of imagined meals, taking a look at the line, and walking out. My coworker claims that getting in line is the first thing he does when he goes food shopping. "Oh, that's great -- your wife starts the shopping?" "No... I just have my cart hold my space while I shop!" If only I had that kind of chutzpah.

Here is the secret: I went on friday night. It beats going to a crowded bar. Consider it my new friday night activity. That and the ICP. Friday nights are for suckers.

the FN scale
It seems that I know too many people who are, for lack of better words, totally fucked up. In order to better classify them, I present the Fucking Nuts Scale:

  1 :: normal in the field of human relations
  2 :: a little eccentric (like maybe you or me... right?)
  3 :: sometimes you don't know where he is coming from
  4 :: habitually "loses it"
  5 :: has lapses of reason
  6 :: has serious lapses of judgement
  7 :: seems to be bipolar
  8 :: doesn't make much sense to others... or himself
  9 :: needs to be medicated
10 :: total fucking nutcase!!!

My friends agree -- it's never you. It's always them.
